Here's how the scam seems to work, based on my personal experience tonight: Somebody contacts you by text, offering you a part-time job. But they want you to undergo training on their system first, where you work on a software system that seems intended to rate music for various streaming platforms. You are instructed to go through three sets of 40 "songs" (title only) and assign a value from A to E (but it doesn't seem to matter which one). After registering, as you are undergoing training on the training system, you see "your" commission increase quickly, on top of a bonus, for basically doing nothing but pushing buttons. You are told that you can get a salary of $1400 in one week if you do 2 hours of work on this system for 7 days straight - the equivalent of $100/hr for doing effectively nothing that an app in a browser couldn't do. After you work on one "set" of 40 songs, you are told that you can't yet get to do another set because you need to have $100 in your account, but unfortunately lnow you only have $84. So you are persuaded to give them $16 to make up the $100, which will then allow you to do two more of these evaluations, and you will have earned $140, which you can supposedly withdraw. All my attempts to find out what the purpose of this task was were met with gibberish or vague explanations in poor English. I don't know how the money in this scam gets big, but I suspect that as the numbers of potential rewards get bigger, they'll first ask for larger sums that need to be deposited to allow you to get to the REAL money. But I blocked this before finding out. After blocking the WhatsApp recruiter, "she" [?] pinged me back on her private phone (Chicago area), complaining that I'd blocked her unfairly, she was an employee just like me, and the company was a real company etc. It all was a fairly transparent scam, I went along with it as long as I could to see when they'd go for my money, and to try to figure out how the money would get big.
