Do not respond to anyone with yellowhead.shop!

I was contacted via text by Caroline (no last name), who said I was referred by Jessica Jenkins with Adecco. First, I thought it odd that the offer came via text instead of email or LinkedIn. Second, I do not know anyone at Adecco and Jessica is not a contact. Included in the message was a “we’re hiring” poster that looked legitimate enough.

Caroline claimed to train freelance employees how to process apps to be analyzed for yellowHEAD, a legitimate company. When I said the offer sounded too good to be true (the pay was too high for too little time), she explained that the work was truly that valuable.

For training, Caroline sent me to yellowhead.shop. Before moving ahead, I looked up yellowHEAD and found them — and yellowhead.com — to be reputable.

I went through initial training, with instructions given through WhatsApp using a lot of screenshots. It was simple enough. But when Caroline wanted me to buy Bitcoin via CashApp to pay for a new set of tasks, I questioned her and got circular responses that made no sense.

She suggested I check with WhatsApp customer service who would verify the legitimacy of the work. That seemed odd and I had trouble finding a link, until Caroline told me where to click. That got me to “WhatsApp CC” (the person’s name on the chat page). Initially, she said, “You don’t have to worry about this being a scam.” After I questioned how she knew who I was chatting with and details about the job, she admitted she was not part of WhatsApp at all but was with yellowhead.shop. She repeated everything I’d been told by Caroline. WhatsApp CC (no other name given) insisted I could get specific answers from their “official” website, yellowhead.com. Nothing on the “.com” site mentioned anything about “.shop” and when I asked for a link to the specific page, she sent screenshots of pages I’d already visited. She did not send any links. Both Caroline and WhatsApp CC became rude, insulting, and questioned my intelligence when I continued to ask for validation that they were a yellowHEAD affiliate.

So, I contacted yellowhead.com directly and they confirmed “.shop” is NOT associated with their company in any way and they only post job openings on their website and LinkedIn.
